Quantitative Methods Research Emphasis and Training

The Quantitative Methods area offers specializations in Statistics and Measurement. The study of Quantitative Methods takes advantage of the wide range of resources at the UW-Madison and includes course work in statistics, mathematics, computer sciences, and from other units of the School of Education.

Researchers in all areas of education develop measuring instruments, design and conduct experiments and surveys, and analyze data resulting from these activities.  Our program helps graduate students become expert consultants in support of the research.   However, the focus of research for both faculty and students in our program is on the study and development of methodology, rather than its application per se.
