Student Organizations

Diversity and Inclusion Association (DIA)

The purpose of DIA is to promote a diversity of perspectives into teaching, research, professional development, and community-building activities. We do this by connecting individuals across the four program areas, creating spaces for dialogue, heightening awareness of minoritized communities, and providing opportunities for engagement in social and educational activities. Not only are we committed to these pursuits within our department, but we also strive to engage with and advocate for local and campus communities. Our committee celebrates diverse identities and ideas and is committed to fostering equity and inclusivity in Educational Psychology.

Educational Psychology Student Association (EPSA)

EPSA was formed in 1997 to build student cohesiveness and facilitate student involvement in department governance. The association meets in the Educational Sciences Building during the academic year to discuss issues related to the Department (e.g., course requirements, funding, and committee updates). All students are encouraged to join. EPSA is a great opportunity for participation in many aspects of department life – social as well as academic. EPSA plans social events for students and faculty, such as bowling and end-of-semester parties.

School Psychology Student Association (SPSA)

SPSA is an academic and social organization for students in the School Psychology Program in the Department of Educational Psychology, UW-Madison. SPSA serves several purposes: (1) to promote professional development among students in school psychology; (2) to facilitate communication between students and faculty; (3) to represent students’ needs and interests regarding their academic program; and (4) to provide a forum for innovative ideas to benefit the School Psychology Program, Department, University, and Madison community. SPSA meets once per month and all students in the program are invited to join. SPSA organizes and hosts several events throughout the academic year that allow members to interact with one another and participate in a variety of social activities and volunteer opportunities. Recent events include a progressive dinner, clothing drive, school supplies drive, and volunteer nights with the Dane County Head Start program.
